What a ringing week it has been! Firstly, 6th January. I'm walking downtown to grab a bite to eat at lunch, when i get a call, 'Daniel quick get over here, we've got Redpolls everywhere, 4 Common at least!'. So i run to get lunch and back to school to explain how i wouldn't be attending the afternoon lessons. Got to the Woods and rung 5/6 Lesser RP's, just missed out on the main batch and the Commons, damn! However, treated with one surprise Brambling!
So to today (9/01). Morning involved spreading the bait out at our fenland ringing site, then put a net up for 15 minutes on a thrush hunt. 3 Fieldfare and a Blackbird caught!
From here to Woodland site! Greeted with a netful of Redpolls! I.D time, about 6 Commons!!! the rest Lesser. By the end of the day we had 13 Common and 11 Lesser, an amazing ratio!
Also work a big mention, 1 Common Redpoll wearing some Norweigen bling! Only the second forgein ring I have seen, a VERY good day in birdland.
